Editor Steve recently finished reading these two books and recommends them. The first, Klondike Playboy is an autobiography by John Boden, known in this industry as CEO of ElderIssues, Florida, and the second, Pitch Anything, by Oren Klaff is essential reading these days for anyone who has to sell new product ideas. Let's just say you won't want these techniques used against you!
And then, of course, there are the perpetual favourites that everyone in every equipment supplier company should read over and over again, by Geoffrey A Moore.

Lose your phone or laptop…lose your 'life' |

At last I've found a tracking service that will appeal to you for your own use. It's software and an online service for owners of Blackberrys, and Windows-based phones, and laptops / netbooks, etc. (including MACs) that will help locate your device if it is stolen. Much more than that, for phones you can still extract your contacts' data remotely before wiping it from the phone, AND send messages to the thief, even if they change the SIM card. For laptops with a webcam it secretly snaps a picture of the thief and emails it to you, as well as indicating its location. Brilliant to give to the police. If you purchase through our links below you will also be helping support Telecare Aware by way of a small commission paid by the software company. Everyone wins. Except the thief! Let me tell you a true story…In July 2010, just a few weeks before I discovered this software, a relative's husband, an instructor who works with young teenagers, had his work phone stolen. There was a particular reason he needed to have these youngsters' numbers on his phone. Within hours of the theft the girls in his contacts list had started to receive obscene texts and calls from the thief. He described the realisation of what was happening as a stomach-churning-heart-stopping-mind-numbing-gazing-into-an-abyss-moment… He still feels bad when he recalls the embarrassed explaining he had to do to the young people and their parents. Worse, it could have wrecked his business. With GadgetTrak he could have wiped the contact list from the phone the moment he knew it was missing! What could a thief do if pretending to be you? If anything like that has happened to you, or someone you know, then you will instantly 'get' the need for GadgetTrak: GadgetTrak for Phones
GadgetTrak for Laptops/Notebooks/NetbooksComputer requirements: Windows XP/Vista/Win7; Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard or higher (including Snow Leopard. Protect up to five Macs or PCs with the Family Pack.
If it's not happened to youIf it's not happened to you – yet – think yourself lucky and try to imagine what it would be like to lose, in the blink of an eye, your closest connection to your friends, business contacts and to the internet. When it happens, many people experience bereavement-like grief. Just as when someone dies, they cannot pop back for a moment to tell you something important ...such as where they hid the number of that Swiss bank account… when your phone has been heisted you cannot make your phone reappear for a few minutes to extract your precious list of contacts. Now you can do the next best thing... YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO PREVENT A DETERMINED THIEF, BUT WITH GADGETTRAK YOU CAN MITIGATE THE HARM THEY DO AND, QUITE POSSIBLY, HELP THE POLICE RECOVER YOUR PROPERTY. With the tamper proof and password protected GadgetTrak service for phones, when yours is stolen you can:
It will also tell you if the SIM has been changed, and the new number assigned to it, so you can keep on tracking it and keep up the pressure on the thief. Sign up now. Tomorrow you might be glad you did.
