Aetna, Intel Home Health Guide study announced

Tuesday, 15 June 2010 15:24
At last week's AHIP (America's Health Insurance Plans) Institute annual conference, Aetna and Intel announced 'preliminary study results' from their joint research on telehealth usage for congestive heart failure (CHF) .  During a six-month test of the Intel Health Guide in a random trial of 315 Aetna Medicare members, 164 received the device, along with a weight scale and blood pressure monitor for daily inputting of results, plus inputs for medication adherence, exercise plus any doctor or ER visits. Care was coordinated with an Aetna nurse case manager.  After all this, what's announced is a letdown; disappointingly generic yet 'promising' on early intervention.  Release.
