'Crying wolf': US municipalities charging for false PERS alarms

False PERS alarms that summon 911 (emergency services) are a growing problem in many parts of the US. Many independent senior housing arrangements require residents to 'punch in' in the mornings, but on off hours and weekends, there's no one in management to confirm non-checkins and the protocol is that the operator then calls 911 and EMS rolls.  Telehealth is also cited as the next increase factor in false dispatches.  Local municipalities (government) are charging, in this example, $100-300 per false alarm after four.  Security Systems News.
