Editor Steve recently finished reading these two books and recommends them. The first, Klondike Playboy is an autobiography by John Boden, known in this industry as CEO of ElderIssues, Florida, and the second, Pitch Anything, by Oren Klaff is essential reading these days for anyone who has to sell new product ideas. Let's just say you won't want these techniques used against you!
And then, of course, there are the perpetual favourites that everyone in every equipment supplier company should read over and over again, by Geoffrey A Moore.

Robot 'doctors' and telemedicine in Chicago |
| Thursday, 09 September 2010 04:09 |

Not quite a robot doctor, but getting there. Neurologist Dr. John Whapham, M.D. performs virtual rounds at Loyola University Medical Center via a mobile robot device with a monitor, camera, stethoscope and inputs for other monitors. The robot 'tower' is fully mobile and controlled by his computer and joystick. Similarly a pediatric intensivist is interviewed using a more conventional telemedicine setup. The NBC Chicago segment winds up with helicopter evacuation...and a vague homily about how it can 'shave thousands of dollars off the cost of providing health care to every corner of the nation.' Emergency health care accessibility yes, taking off thousands of dollars...this editor [Donna] guesses not. Robot Doctors: Future of Medicine? |
